Next Chapter at Victory

A Letter from Pastors Johnson + Summer

September 24, 2019

Dear Victory Family,

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” - Romans 8:28 NLT

Romans 8:28 is very near and dear to our heart because of how God orchestrated our lives to the place we are today. This scripture has been used in so many different contexts, and maybe not always in conjunction with its original purpose, but what we love about this scripture is how it brings us hope that God orchestrates all things together for His good.

Our journey over the past 20 years at Victory has been a gradual step into new seasons of ministry. We never imagined we would be at this place where we are today, but looking back, we see how God knit together every moment of pain, failure, hope, and success for His good. To hear the full story, watch the sermon here.

In 1999, Summer and I began attending Victory World Church and fell in love with the mission, vision and values that Victory is known for. As our hearts became knitted to this church, in 2005 we began on staff as the Fusion Young Adult pastors. We served the young adults for over five years until launching the Hamilton Mill campus as the lead pastors in 2010, and we are now celebrating nine years with the ever-growing Hamilton Mill family. Over the past month at Victory, we have been walking through this series called NEXT and two Sundays ago we shared an exciting announcement that our NEXT will be taking on the role of Victory Senior Pastors in August 2020! Pastors Dennis and Colleen Rouse have been faithful to pioneer and shepherd the church to where it is today and, after 30 years at Victory, they will transition into more of a spiritual grandparent role within the church. In addition, we are thrilled to announce the founders of Lead Well, Pastors Randy and Cheri Cochran, will become the Lead Pastors for Victory Hamilton Mill! We are humbled and honored to take on this new role at Victory and we are so excited to move forward with the mission Victory has set in place.

What’s Next for Victory Hamilton Mill?

Beginning January 12, 2020, Randy and Cheri Cochran will become the lead pastors of our Victory Hamilton Mill campus and Summer and I will transition on staff to the Norcross Campus. You can see the full timeline here.

What we appreciate about Randy and Cheri is their experience leading at high levels of ministry. Randy was originally my direct report when I first came on staff at Victory, and later he and Cheri transitioned to be campus pastors for a megachurch in Texas. It was cool to see how they took a church that began with a similar story to VHM and they grew it to be a congregation of 3,500. Both Randy and Cheri lead with strategy and vision and they have such a heart for the church. They have raised two amazing, God-fearing young adults, and their heart for family is incredible to see. We love what that means for VHM moving forward!

To our Victory Hamilton Mill Family, we ask for you to be in prayer with us during this season of transition.

Let’s be in prayer for this season as transition is taking place, all the way through next August when Summer and I step into the Senior Pastor roles. Truthfully, we are humbled by this opportunity to lead, and we know that it is not about us. We are confident that He is doing a good work within our Victory family and we are blessed to be a part of such a healthy transition! We believe that God is a good shepherd and He is orchestrating every moment of this transition all for the glory of His name.

#WeAreVictory in the way that we walk in obedience to His call for the Church.

As we step into this new role, our heart for the church is still the same. We stand with the core values of building families, transforming communities, reconciling cultures, and impacting nations! We love you and we are excited for what’s ahead!
